Alternator

AMPERAGE: 60

PULLEY DESIGN: S4

PLUG CLOCK: 9

Replace MFR: HITACHI

note: This is a 60A Hitachi Internal Fan Alternator for Honda Passport and Isuzu Rodeo (3.2L Engine). This is Virtually the Same Looking Unit as the 13564 Used Previously, Except the Plug Has Been Moved to the Side of the Rear Housing of the Alternator (at 9: 00). This is Very Similar to the 13744, Except This Unit Uses a 4-Groove Serpentine Pulley, and the Battery Stud on This Unit is at 8: 00, Whereas the 13744 Has a Battery Stud at 2: 00.The Later Used 13757 is Virtually the Same as the 13745, Except for the Pulley, Which Should Transfer. There is a Honda Safety Recall #97-026 Which Notes a Problem With the Field Control Going to Full Field and Damaging Electronics and Possibly Causing the ECM to Shut Down Fuel Control. Also, There are Problems With the 1993-97 Isuzu Rodeo and 1993-98 Honda Passport with Hitachi alternators LR170-755, LR160-730C, and LR160-729C. The Battery Can Become Discharged After One to One Half Hour of Idling or Driving at Very Low Speeds with High Accessory Load (Especially With the Rear Window Defogger On). Under These Conditions, the Alternator is Not Able to Put Out Enough Current at Low Engine Speeds to Keep Up With the Electrical Load. The Honda Fix is to Replace the Alternator With a Higher Ampere Unit and Add a Timer to the Rear Window Defogger. Thus Comes the Need to Replace the Regulator or Use (a) Repair Chip to Repair the O.E. Brush Holder; Rather Then Trying to Salvage the O.E. Regulator. Just Testing the O.E. Regulator. on a normal voltage regulator tester may not tell you the whole story. This Particular Regulator Can Start to Malfunction on a Thermal Curve and the Failure Symptom Would Be Intermittent. The Regulator Uses a "C" Terminal to Control the Field Load on the Engine By Changing the Regulator SetPoint From 14.6 Volts to 13.2 Volts (Nominal) When Excessive Engine Load Conditions are Noted By the PCM and the Engine Coolant is at Normal Operating Temperature. The Regulator Circuitry Provides Load Response Control and a Low Power L-Circuit in Series With the Blower Controls, ABS Circuit.
